The Importance of Being Earnest

Raquel’s review of the play:

The Importance of Being Earnest, a play written by Oscar Wilde (Irish writer, 1854-1900 ), was presented at the comfortable auditorium of the British Art Centre (1333 Suipacha street, Buenos Aires City), by PEST (Peripatetic English Speaking Theatre) last 21st and 22nd September, with all seats sold out. It was a modern version of the play, directed by Alicia Vidal. The protagonists, M. Duardo as Algernon and , M. Almirón as Jack, together with all the company developed a very good performance. Even G. Masi, as Lane, a minor character, with just a few lines, could give us something special through his really amusing corporal language. The story is about hypocrisies, lies, love and relationships. The truth appeared while the story developed, but the last truth, more unexpected than the others, brought the play a good end. The direction, acting, costume and set design, music and lighting, were all good, but the strength of the play was the cast's commitment. I think it is worth seeing. I recommend it.
