Adult Learners’ Week celebrates lifelong learning, one of several essential factors in developing more inclusive societies.
UNESCO's General Conference in November 1999 approved the International Adult Learners' Week. The aim is to bridge the activities during the national adult learners' weeks, to learn from the experiences of other countries, to share the celebration with people in other contexts and to amplify the cooperation between agencies active in the promotion of adult learning at international level.
Since then, organizers in more than 40 countries have organized learning festivals. These not only raise awareness of the need to create more opportunities for adults to learn, but celebrate the efforts and achievements of the thousands who find the courage to 'take that first step back'.
Let’s share the experience of these two adult learners who changed their lives. Both were winners of the UK Adult Learners’ Week Award:

Sure Perla! I think that the most important issue to highlight this week is the fact that we ALL have the right to continue developing our multiple intelligences since we are born till we die, lifelong learning. ALL OF US! No matter if you are rich or poor, young or old, etc. And we have to generate the (legal, mental, social, etc)conditions to facilitate continuing education for all.
