La Cenerentola (Cinderella)/ Teatro Colón

Goodness, cruelty, avarice, generosity, falsehood, frankness, ambition, intelligence, lies, innocence, egoism and beauty are some of the elements “La Cenerentola” offers. It is a comic opera with Jacopo Ferretti's libretto and Gioachino Rossini's music. It is being performed at the Teatro Colón (Cerrito  628, CABA). The orchestra is directed by R. Censabella. The professional cast, with their fantastic voices accompanied by the music, delights our ears and brings our souls the pinch of beauty necessary to make us feel better. The set design, varied and colorful, contributes to the opera's development.  The costume design by Gino Bogani is beautiful. Scene and visual media director is Sergio Renan. With tickets sold out, excellent interpretations and public enthusiasm, the theatre shines. People have the possibility to enjoy and reflect on human beings, their miseries and greatness. You can't miss it!!!
Next performance: October 5/ October 7

La Cenerentola (Cinderella) Synopsis and Character Descriptions

The Teatro Colón  (Columbus Theatre) is the main opera house in Buenos Aires, Argentina, acoustically considered to be amongst the five best concert venues in the world. By the mid-1850s, with the flourishing of opera performed by touring companies, the need for a new theatre became obvious. In 1854 alone, 53 different operas were performed in the city. The first Teatro Colón building, overlooking Plaza de Mayo, was started in 1856 and opened on April 27, 1857, with Verdi's La traviata, just four years after its Italian premiere. The theatre was designed by Charles Pellegrini.

  1. Thanks Raquel!!! You have become our official critic! Thanks for the information!

Speaking of the Teatro Colón, you know, I have never been there! I'd like to go... Now I have a private Italian interpreter...just in case I don't understand the opera in Italian! =)
